Collection: CONCERN - SENSITIVE

Skincare for Sensitive Skin

When almost everything seems to make your skin react, choosing skincare can become exhausting.

A cleanser leaves you feeling tight. A serum everyone else loves makes your skin sting. You introduce a new active and suddenly your whole routine feels uncomfortable. Eventually, it can become difficult to know what your skin genuinely dislikes and what is simply too much, too often.

Sensitive skin does not always need more products. Often, it needs a more considered routine.

This collection brings together skincare selected with sensitive and reactive skin in mind, with options to support comfort, hydration and a healthy skin barrier.

At Touch & Glow Skin & Laser Clinic, we work with sensitive and compromised skin every day. We know that the goal is not to build the longest routine possible, but to understand what the skin needs, reduce unnecessary irritation and choose products that work well together.

Why does skin become sensitive?

Sensitivity can look and feel different from one person to another.

You may experience:

  • stinging or burning sensations
  • tightness or discomfort
  • redness
  • dryness or flaking
  • itching
  • increased reactivity to products
  • skin that suddenly seems less tolerant than it used to be

Some people naturally have more sensitive skin. For others, sensitivity can be influenced by environmental exposure, hormonal changes, an impaired skin barrier, over-exfoliation or a routine containing too many active ingredients.

Understanding that difference matters. Skin that has always been reactive may need a different approach from skin that has become sensitised over time.

Sensitive or sensitised?

The words are often used interchangeably, but they can describe different situations.

Sensitive skin may be naturally more reactive and prone to discomfort.

Sensitised skin can develop when the skin’s tolerance has been disrupted - for example through over-cleansing, frequent exfoliation, introducing too many strong products at once or repeatedly changing routines.

This is one reason we do not believe every reaction means you need to search for another new “sensitive skin” product. Sometimes the first step is understanding whether something in the existing routine is contributing to the problem.

Choosing skincare for sensitive skin

Depending on how your skin presents, you may benefit from products chosen to support:

  • the skin barrier
  • hydration and moisture retention
  • skin comfort
  • dryness and tightness
  • visible redness
  • gentle cleansing
  • protection from environmental exposure
  • a simpler, more consistent routine

The products in this collection have been brought together to make it easier to explore formulas relevant to sensitive, reactive or easily irritated skin.

When your routine has become part of the problem

More is not always better, particularly when skin is already struggling.

Using multiple acids, exfoliating frequently, layering several active serums or constantly introducing new products can leave skin feeling increasingly unpredictable. And once irritation begins, it is easy to respond by buying even more products in an attempt to calm it down.

At Touch & Glow, we often prefer to look at the full routine.

What are you cleansing with? How often are you exfoliating? Which active ingredients are overlapping? Does your skin feel comfortable after each step? Have several new products been introduced at once?

Sometimes simplifying first gives you a much clearer picture of what the skin actually needs.

Sensitivity, allergy and skin conditions are not the same thing

Not every reaction is simply “sensitive skin”.

Persistent redness, itching, swelling, rashes or significant changes in the skin may need assessment by a GP or appropriate healthcare professional. Conditions such as rosacea, eczema and contact dermatitis can sometimes be mistaken for general sensitivity and may require medical diagnosis or treatment.

If symptoms are persistent, severe or changing, seek appropriate medical advice rather than continuing to trial new skincare products.
